Mixtures for French Meat Pie
Over the years she settled on the recipe used for Ma Cusson’s French Meat Pie
Ingredients
3/4 lb ground beef
1/4 lb ground pork
1 small onion
Smashed potatoes
Salt
Pepper
Sage
Poultry seasoning
Preparation
- Brown meat slightly
- Cover with water and cook slowly for 30 minutes
- Add approximately ½ cup smashed potatoes (use a potato masher, not a blender/mixer), salt, pepper, sage and poultry seasoning to taste.
- Put in pie crust and bake at 400 degrees for 45 minutes

Pepper – 3-5 grates of pepper corns
3 lbs ground beef
3/4 lbs ground pork (6-8 small sausages)
2 medium onions
Mashed potatoes
3/4 tsp poultry seasoning
1/4 tsp sage
Preparation
- Brown meat slightly
- Cover with water and cook slowly for 30 minutes
- Add smashed potatoes (use a potato masher, not a blender/mixer), and seasonings
- Put in pie crust and bake at 400 degrees for 45 minutes

Preparation
- Brown meat slightly
- Cover with water and cook slowly for 30 minutes
- Add smashed potatoes (use a potato masher, not a blender/mixer), and seasonings
- Put in pie crust and bake at 400 degrees for 45 minutes
Notes/Variations
- Ma Cusson’s French Meat Pie
- Add the seasonings and let sit for 10-15 minutes before tasting to give
the seasonings a chance 'settle'. Adjust seasoning to taste
